Mendham also decided to put a big wrinkle into the standings t00. They upset, at least according to the Daily Record and the Star Ledger who picked them to lose by at least a TD, the Parsippany Hills Vikings 15-14 in come from behind fashion. But, I must give credit for this blog's own Val Halla for picking this game from the beginning. He even picked Par Hills score! Great Job Val Halla!
What does this mean? Lots of things. First of all, and most obvious, is that it makes three 6-1 teams; Morris Hills, West Essex and Mendham. Both Mendham and Morris Hills have a lose to West Essex.
How are we going to figure out who is the Conference Champs? Easy, Mendham plays Morris Hills this weekend at Mendham. This will shake out one of them. But it wont be easy as Mendham is undefeated at home and Morris Hills is undefeated on the road.
Then West Essex has to play two tough games first against Par Hills and then against Chatham. No matter how you cut it, this will be an exciting final stretch.
OTHER NOTES: We lost a great one this week. Brian Fleury, Delbarton's baseball coach and the school's athletic director passed away this week after a long battle with cancer. It is always the best ones that die early. Brian was a beloved coach by his players and by the parents. He was one of the guys who really cared about the kids. He was 40.
Rutgers upset #2 South Florida this week. Good for them...too bad they lost to Cincinati and Maryland. You can't help but to be happy for Rutgers for really turning their program around. But being the same general area as the Yankee's it is about time they bring a National Championship to New Jersey.
I still cannot believe the turn of events that happened this weekend. HP beat Wessex and Mendham beat Par Hills...freaking awesome stuff!
I am sure there are other things that went on this week but lets just stick with the most meanful for now.

UJF,
Great post!! It was definitely upset week for sure.
Thanks! Beginner's luck on the pick I guess ;) ...but Hoffman, Reilly, and MaxPrep's computer can buy me a beer next time I see them. Maybe one of these days they'll start treating the Minutemen with a little more, as the late Rodney Dangerfield would say - RESPECT.
Val Halla called it nicely, I must say. I like the cojones on the Mendham coach going for two, I am looking forward to your write up and interview on that one, Unruly.
By the way, keep the non Iron-Hills talk on the Jets blog Unruly, really now. ha ha
Hey UJF- on the same site, among those pics is a great one of a Par Hills lineman blatantly holding a mendham player. Post that one too, it is awesome!!
It must have been in the first half...the zebras called just about nothing in the first half and just about everything in the second.
Val Halla, check out this "block" on Riposta. No wonder why Par Hills ran right down the field in the first half.
Hey, maybe later this week, you can post one of those Power Point scenarios with Union Hill and all those other schools and the chances of Mendham getting into the post season.
By the way...I think Par Hills uniforms are pretty cool. I wish Mendham would go back to the old Patriot hiking the ball logo. That was kind of bad ass.
You like that patriot hiking the ball?? I'm not so sure. I'd rather the boys had their names on their uniforms or crossed rifles USMC style on their shoulders kinda like where the TV numbers usually are. I actually like the new Pats logo too. The current logo is the U.Michigan "M" (in case you didn't notice).
That is a textbook hold, huh? I remember a few years ago there was a game in the DR (hardcopy) front of the sports section...showing a player on some MoCo team getting a gnarly facemask foul perpetrated on him on the bottom of a pile and the RB was pointing to it. It was hilarious; great pic.
I'll cook up a little scenario for the post but basically Mendham is looking good for the playoffs right now...off the cuff, I'd say 85-95% chance of a berth, even if a MoHills loss on Saturday. MTF.
BTW, the loss really didn't hurt Par Hills that much. They are looking good, even if they lose to WEssex this weekend. I am hoping they win - Mendham could win the conference.
Rumor has it that Hayek is injured...and may not play this weekend...PH Depugh is good too, so it could be a close game...still, I give the edge to WE on this one, but I am pulling for the Vikings. Should be a good game.
HP Rocks! Other IH teams beware, they are just getting warmed up in time for the playoffs!
Go Hornets!
